Our scanning service delivers high-resolution raw mesh files in STL or OBJ format, with PLY available when applicable. Tell us how you plan to use the scan so we can discuss the appropriate deliverable before work begins.
Scope of the scanning service: raw mesh capture does not include reverse engineering, parametric CAD models in SolidWorks or Fusion 360, mesh repair, design changes, engineering services, or manufacturing drawings. A scan is not automatically a production-ready CAD or print file.
How to get a scanning quote
- Send photos and dimensions. Include the object’s approximate size, weight, and material.
- Describe your intended use. Tell us whether you need an archive, visualization, or a starting point for reproduction, and specify your preferred file format.
- Plan the handoff. Let us know whether you can bring the object to Medley or need to ship it. Include your deadline for review.
Need a physical reproduction too? We can discuss a separate fabrication scope using large-format 3D printing, foam, molds, or a hybrid build.
Common scanning questions
Can I ship my object to ABC Foam?
Local drop-off and shipped objects are options. Contact us first with photos, dimensions, weight, and your location so we can discuss handling and project suitability before you send it.
Will the scan include an editable CAD model?
No. The standard service provides raw STL or OBJ mesh data, with PLY when applicable. Parametric CAD, reverse engineering, and manufacturing drawings are outside this scanning service.
Can you make a larger version of my object?
We can review a reproduction project using foam, printing, or molds. Fabrication, file preparation, finish, and scale need a separate project review and quote.
